Terms of Service

1. Free mock-ups

A free mock-up is exactly that — free. There is no charge, no deposit and no obligation to proceed. I retain the right to decline a mock-up request, for example where I don't think I'm the right fit for the work. The mock-up remains my design work until a project is agreed and paid for.

2. Pricing

My website pricing is published on the Pricing page: $400 CAD to build your site with hosting and maintenance looked after by me, or $350 CAD to build your site and hand it over for you to host and maintain yourself. Both options include a free mock-up before any commitment is made.

If you ask for work outside the agreed scope — extra pages, new features, a redesign — I'll tell you the cost before doing the work so there are no surprises.

3. Payment

You pay nothing up front. The full build amount — $400 or $350 CAD, depending on the option you choose — is due once your website has been delivered to you. No deposit is required to start work.

If you chose the option where I host and maintain your site, the $75 CAD monthly fee begins the day your website goes live, and is billed monthly from that date.

4. What you own

Once a project is paid in full, you own your domain, your website content, and the completed website design. I set these up in your name. Third-party tools and platforms used to build or host the site remain subject to their own terms.

5. Your responsibilities

To build your site, I'll need content from you — text about your business, images, your logo, and timely feedback on drafts. Delays in providing these will push back the delivery date. You confirm that any text, images, logos or other material you send me are either yours or licensed for your use, and that they don't infringe anyone else's rights.

6. Revisions and timelines

Each project includes reasonable revision rounds while your site is being built. I'll give you an estimated timeline when the project begins, and I'll keep you updated at each stage. Timelines depend on prompt feedback and content from you.

7. Search visibility

I set up the local search foundations that give you the best possible starting position — Google Business Profile, page titles, descriptions and mobile performance. I can't and don't guarantee specific Google rankings or volumes of enquiries, since these depend on factors outside my control, including your competitors and how Google's algorithms change.

8. Ongoing costs

If you chose the option where I host and maintain your site, the $75 CAD monthly fee covers hosting, maintenance, security updates and content edits. It begins when your site goes live and is billed monthly. There is no long-term contract — you can end the monthly plan at any time, and we'll arrange for your site to be transferred to hosting you control.

If you chose the option where you host and maintain the site yourself, there is no monthly fee from me. You'll be responsible for third-party costs such as domain registration and hosting, and I'll tell you what to expect up front.

9. Cancellation

You can cancel a project at any time before delivery and owe nothing, since no payment is made until your website has been delivered. If you cancel partway through, we simply stop there — you are not charged for work not delivered.

10. Limits of liability

I'll always do my best work for you, but I'm a one-person studio and I can't accept liability for indirect or consequential losses — for example lost profits or lost business opportunities. My total liability is limited to the amount you paid me for the project.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Canada and the province in which I operate. If a dispute arises, we'll try to sort it out directly and in good faith first.

12. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you engage me is the version that applies to our agreement.
